THE8 and Vernon Blend Contrasting Styles on V8

SEVENTEEN's THE8 and Vernon are ushering in a new chapter of their careers with the release of their first unit mini album, V8.

Named after the combination of Vernon's "V" and THE8's "8," the unit represents the pair's distinct artistic identities coming together with the power and momentum of a high-performance engine. The project marks SEVENTEEN's latest official sub-unit and showcases two of the group's most creatively driven members outside of their activities as part of the full group.

Both THE8 and Vernon have built reputations for their individual artistic contributions over the years. THE8 has explored a wide range of genres through solo releases, including his Chinese EP Stardust, while Vernon has established himself as one of SEVENTEEN's songwriters, contributing to numerous releases for both the group and other artists.

However, the duo's partnership is not entirely new to fans. Previous collaborations, including "54321 (Lift Off)," highlighted the chemistry between THE8's melodic sensibilities and Vernon's distinctive rap style. This has led many CARATs to anticipate a solo project from the pair.

With V8,both Vernon and THE8 are expected to further explore their shared creative vision while maintaining an individuality that has made each member stand out within SEVENTEEN. The release also reflects a growing trend among established K-pop groups, where members use unit and solo projects as opportunities to experiment with new sounds and artistic concepts. This also happens at a time where many of the other SEVENTEEN members are currently serving their mandatory military period and thus more content is created for fans to make up for the long wait periods.

Following the album's release, THE8 and Vernon are set to continue activities as V8 through a series of live performances, giving fans an opportunity to experience the project's music in a dedicated concert setting.

As one of SEVENTEEN's most anticipated unit debuts, V8 offers a new perspective on both artists while reinforcing the group's reputation for encouraging creative freedom and musical experimentation.
