Actor Ko Kyoung-pyo brought his easy charm and quick humor to the highly anticipated debut of MBC's new variety series Play Coaster, anchoring a premiere episode built around his genuine love for theme parks.

The premiere, which aired on June 21, drew a promising 2.1% viewership rating. The globetrotting show follows a star-studded cast as they travel to iconic theme parks around the world, with Ko serving as one of the central, anchoring personalities.

From his very first scene, Ko folded into the ensemble cast with remarkable ease. He warmly shared with viewers that he had been a longtime fan of veteran variety host No Hong-chul, using that mutual respect to establish a comfortable on-screen dynamic. He also opened up about his cherished childhood memories of visiting amusement parks, framing his role on the show as a deeply personal passion project rather than just another job.

The premiere's first stop took the group to the historic city of Tarragona, Spain, located just outside of Barcelona. Taking the lead, Ko guided the cast to a local restaurant he had personally researched and handpicked, showing off his true foodie credentials on the road. He also drew massive laughs from the crew with a blunt, unfiltered "no shower" declaration that put his hilariously raw and relatable side on full display. His effortless, comedic back-and-forth with No Hong-chul gave the early travel segments a loose, lived-in feel that resonated with audiences.

Throughout the episode, Ko leaned heavily into the theme park premise with infectious enthusiasm, offering raw, real-time reactions to the massive rides and attractions rather than merely performing for the cameras. This natural chemistry with the rest of the cast strongly suggests that Play Coaster will continue to rely on this vibrant, unscripted energy as its ambitious global tour moves forward.

Play Coaster airs every Sunday at 9:10 p.m. KST on MBC.
