Lee Hyori is pushing back on questions about whether the couples on JTBC's new dating show are bringing real problems to the screen.

The singer appeared at an online press conference for "Love War" on Monday alongside chief producer Kwon Hae-bom, producing director Park Eun-young, and co-hosts Seo Jang-hoon and Heechul. The show premieres the same day at 8:50 p.m. KST.

"Love War" follows couples on the edge of breaking up. Reporters asked Lee, who has been married for 13 years, whether it was hard to relate to that headspace. She said it wasn't.

"I've had all kinds of dating experiences, so that part isn't a struggle," she said. "I'm not dating now, but I have the past to draw on. I've been out of the dating world for a while, so watching what people go through these days has actually been fun."

She also addressed the bigger question hanging over the format: are the couples real, or are they there for exposure?

"I came in with some doubts. Why would they come on TV? Are they trying to get famous? Do they actually have real problems?" Lee said. "But they really do show up with real issues. Some couples have even broken up on set. I hate anything fake, so I'm enjoying this."

Lee added that she does not shy away from telling couples to walk away.

"I tell a lot of them to break up," she said. "I've been in draining relationships myself, so I tell them not to be afraid of it. Breaking up is also an option."

"Love War" premieres Monday at 8:50 p.m. KST on JTBC.
