Park Myung-su, Kim Dae-ho Face Flooded Roads on 'The Great Guide 3' Ethiopia Trip

The cast of MBC Every1's "The Great Guide 3" runs into an unexpected setback in Ethiopia when heavy rains wash out the road. Just as the situation looks hopeless, Kim Dae-ho pulls out his favorite travel item and turns the moment around.

In the episode airing June 30 at 8:30 p.m. KST, Park Myung-su, Kim Dae-ho, Choi Daniel and Lee Mu-jin set out to meet the Karo, one of the Ethiopian tribes with the least contact with the outside world. The trip hits trouble almost from the start.

The four head toward a Karo village in the cliffs of the Omo Valley in southern Ethiopia. The terrain is rough, and the community is one of the hardest tribes for outside travelers to reach.

The group spends hours bouncing along unpaved roads to get there. Every rocky stretch sends the vehicles lurching, and the members groan through the ride as exhaustion sets in.

Then conditions get worse. Heavy rain the night before has turned long sections of the road into thick mud, and driving becomes a struggle. At one point, the production crew's vehicle sinks deep into the mud and can't move. Parts of the road have also been washed away, leaving stretches that the cars cannot pass at all. The local guide and production team start emergency repairs, and the four cast members pitch in too, carrying rocks by hand.

That is when Kim Dae-ho reaches for the item he always brings on trips. On earlier journeys, the same item drew teasing from the other members. This time, it proves useful enough that everyone praises him for it. Even the Ethiopian drivers gather around to take a closer look.
