RIIZE Scores Fourth Million-Seller With 'II,' Tops Charts in Korea, Japan, China
K-POP boy group RIIZE is riding a sharp wave of momentum at home and abroad with its second mini-album, "II." The record has already crossed one million in sales and pushed the group to the top of major charts across Asia.
Released on the 15th of last month, "II" sold more than one million copies in four days. It is RIIZE's fourth million-seller to date. The title track, "Do your dance," reached No. 1 on the daily Global K-Chart and the HOT 100 on Melon, South Korea's leading music streaming service, on the 1st.
The album is performing strongly on overseas charts as well. It reached No. 1 on the iTunes Top Albums chart in six countries. In Japan, it topped the Recochoku weekly album ranking and the AWA real-time trending chart. In China, it took the top spot on the K-POP charts of all five music platforms under Tencent Music.
The release also drew notice from Western music press. Billboard wrote that the album "captures a range of musical experiments while holding on to the group's own character." U.K. music magazines CLASH and DORK gave positive reviews of its new sonic direction and its honest lyrical message.
The group added a visual layer to the campaign on the 29th of last month through a collaboration with Zhou Chengwei, an 11-year-old Chinese photographer. In the shoot, the members of RIIZE gather on a bed and look into the lens with relaxed expressions. The casual styling marks a clear break from their sharper stage looks.
Taken together, the chart wins, the million-seller milestone, and the crossover press attention point to a group settling into a wider global lane, one where a young act can pull in Billboard reviews, top Chinese streaming charts, and shape its image through an art collaboration all inside the same album cycle.
