'Teach You a Lesson' Star Kim Moo-yul Returns to 'You Quiz on the Block' With Wife
Actor Kim Moo-yul, the breakout face of the hit K-drama "Teach You a Lesson" (Chamgyoyuk), is heading back to tvN's variety staple "You Quiz on the Block" (Yu Quiz on the Block) to look back on the years before the fame arrived.
The episode airs Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. KST. Alongside Kim, the lineup includes a child guest named Lee Yu-ju, who drew wide attention after a Children's Day interview, four siblings who all went on to serve in the military, and two correctional officers, Kim Ji-hoon and Lee Dong-ryeol, of the Seoul Detention Center's rapid patrol team (CRPT).
It is Kim's first return to the show in two years. He arrives in the black suit that has become the signature look of Na Hwa-jin, the strict overseer he plays in "Teach You a Lesson." On the program, he talks through what has changed since the drama's release, including behind-the-scenes stories from set, a sudden jump in his social media following, an ongoing running joke about his resemblance to American pro wrestler John Cena, and public words of support from veteran actor Kim Hye-soo. He also shares an unexpected personal connection with fellow actor Heo Nam-jun.
Kim then rewinds much further, to years when he was earning only about 200,000 won a year as an unknown actor. "There was a time in my youth when the red eviction stickers were on our door," he recalls on the show. "We lived in a shanty town up in the hills, and I bounced between all kinds of part-time jobs." He describes those days as the long stretch of chasing an acting career with no guarantee it would ever land.
His wife, actor Yoon Seung-ah, joins him on the episode. She talks about watching her husband push through his no-name years up close. The couple also revisit the moment they learned "Teach You a Lesson" was breaking out overseas, walk through the 17-year love story that has held them together, and share small everyday scenes with their son, Won.
"You Quiz on the Block" airs every Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. KST on tvN.
