'Teach You a Lesson' Star Kim Moo-yeol Talks Sudden Stardom

Actor Kim Moo-yeol says his social media following jumped fivefold in the two weeks after the Netflix series "Teach You a Lesson" (Chamgyoyuk) premiered. The star of the show made the comment on tvN's variety program "You Quiz on the Block," which aired on July 1.

Kim plays Na Hwa-jin in "Teach You a Lesson," which shot to No. 1 in 45 countries shortly after its release.

On the show, Kim said the change in his daily life has been hard to miss. "I can really feel the popularity," he said with a laugh. "I've lived in my neighborhood for more than 10 years, and this is the first time someone told me I look cool."

Host Yoo Jae-suk noted that Kim's agency was reportedly celebrating the show's success. Kim responded by pointing to someone who has been with him since the early days. "There's a person who is now the chairman of the company," he said. "We used to travel to sets together and grind it out side by side."

He also shared that the momentum has already translated into work. "My next project and the one after that are both confirmed," he said. "You have to strike while the mood is good."
