Korean actress Song Hye-kyo is continuing her long-running history awareness work, even after parting ways with her longtime agency. Her latest project brings Korean independence history to visitors in the United States.

Sung Shin-yong, a professor at Sungshin Women's University, announced on July 2 that he and Song had teamed up again to donate 10,000 guidebooks introducing the independence movement history of Korean Americans in the Washington, DC area.

The guidebooks were produced in both Korean and English. They have been delivered to the Old Korean Legation in Washington, DC, where they are being handed out to visitors. The booklets cover the Old Korean Legation along with the locations and historical activities of the Korean Commission to America and Europe and the Korean Commission in Washington.

"The preservation conditions of Korean independence movement sites remaining overseas are not particularly good," Sung said. "Continued interest and visits from our people will be the greatest force in preserving these overseas historical sites."

With this donation, the Korean history guidebooks produced by the two now reach 11 cities worldwide, including major destinations such as New York, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Mexico City.

Over the past 15 years, Song and Sung have worked together to promote Korean history at 40 heritage sites overseas. Their projects have included Korean-language guidebooks, Hangul signage, and relief artworks honoring independence activists.

Song recently ended her 14-year partnership with her agency UAA and is now working independently. Even after that fresh start, she has continued her history support work, showing that her steady influence has not changed.
