Yoo Jae-suk's 19-Year-Old Kindness Story Resurfaces via Fan Webtoon
A 19-year-old story about Korean television host Yoo Jae-suk is drawing fresh attention online. The story came from a webtoon artist who shared a personal family connection to one of the host's on-camera moments.
On the 5th, an Instagram webtoon artist known as A posted a comic titled "The story of appearing on 'Infinite Challenge' and going to Yoo Jae-suk's wedding" on her social media.
A referenced a 2007 episode of the MBC variety show "Infinite Challenge" that featured a "Seoul sightseeing" segment. "In this Seoul sightseeing special, a certain shop owner appears. The shop owner who gave ice cream to Yoo Jae-suk and the production team is my boyfriend's father," she wrote. During that shoot, Yoo Jae-suk did not have his wallet and bought ice cream from the shop on credit.
A said she heard the follow-up to the story from her boyfriend a few years ago. According to her, her boyfriend told her that Yoo Jae-suk later returned to the shop to pay back what he owed, and then invited the family to his wedding. "Yoo Jae-suk invited my boyfriend's family to his wedding, and through his manager he also sent over pizza and cake," A explained.
She added that her boyfriend, unaware of what to expect, simply went along and enjoyed the food among the celebrities. "He was sitting there eating for a while, and then he ran into Noh Hong-chul and Kim Jong-min," A wrote.
Reactions online have been warm. Users left comments such as "What an incredible connection" and "It's surprising that he even invited them to the wedding."
The story highlights the kind of small, personal gesture that has long shaped Yoo Jae-suk's public image in South Korea, where he remains one of the most trusted figures on television nearly two decades after the "Infinite Challenge" episode aired.
