K-POP Co-Ed Group KARD to Disband After First Full Album and World Tour
K-POP co-ed group KARD is disbanding after nearly a decade together. The group will wrap its career after releasing its first studio album and heading out on a world tour this summer.
DSP Media shared the news in a notice on its official website on the morning of July 6. The agency said KARD, made up of BM, J.Seph, Jeon Somin, and Jeon Jiwoo, will release its debut studio album "Where To Now? (Part.2) : NOWHERE" on July 28 and then begin a world tour.
"After careful discussions with the four members, we have agreed to close out KARD's journey at the end of this run of activities," the company said.
DSP Media also thanked the group's fandom, known as HIDDEN KARD. "We once again thank the HIDDEN KARD fans who have walked alongside KARD for so long, and we ask for your warm support and encouragement for the new paths each member will take from here," the agency said. It added that it hopes the new album and tour, which the members prepared with their full hearts, will become a precious memory for fans.
Since their debut, KARD has built one of the most distinctive global followings in K-POP. Over roughly nine years, the group grew a solid overseas fan base and became known as a representative global act. Their identity as a mixed-gender group set them apart, and they repeatedly toured across South America, Europe, and other regions, drawing strong ticket sales on stages far from home.
The debut studio album "Where To Now? (Part.2) : NOWHERE" drops July 28 at 6 p.m. KST, and the accompanying tour will follow.
For a group that spent most of its career proving co-ed K-POP could work on a global scale, the final chapter lands where they built their name: on stages outside of Korea, in front of the fans who made them a worldwide act in the first place.
