Film director Jang Hang-jun has been tapped to host a new history-focused variety show on SBS Plus. The program, titled "Time Tracker Sherlock," positions itself as a history talk show that fills in the blanks left behind by the historical record.

The premise is simple. Each episode digs into the story hiding behind a single line of history, then flips what viewers thought they knew. The show promises a fresh perspective on familiar events.

Jang Hang-jun, who is married to screenwriter Kim Eun-hee, leads the show as main MC. He is coming off a major hit with the film "The King's Warden" (Wanggwa Saneun Namja), which drew 17 million admissions in South Korea. He now moves into the host chair for his next act.

Joining him are actor Bong Tae-gyu and broadcaster Shin A-young, a Harvard University history graduate. The two are expected to bring different angles to the table, one from an actor's eye and one from an academic background.

The show's official poster was released alongside the cast announcement. In it, Jang Hang-jun is styled as the famous detective Sherlock Holmes, staring down the camera with a sharp look as he tracks history. Bong Tae-gyu and Shin A-young appear alongside him, each caught mid-thought as they piece together clues from the past.

"Time Tracker Sherlock" premieres on the 14th at 10:30 p.m. KST.
