Red Velvet's August Comeback Draws 10 Million Views in One Day
K-POP girl group Red Velvet is drawing sharp public attention with the announcement of its August comeback.
The group's agency, SM Entertainment, confirmed on July 6 that Red Velvet will release its new EP, "Velvet Summer," on August 3 at 6 p.m. KST.
The reaction online was immediate. The official X post announcing the comeback pulled in 10.22 million views as of July 7, with 87,000 shares and 140,000 likes in a single day. The scale of that engagement stands out against the group's own follower base of roughly 6 million on X and 5.56 million subscribers on YouTube.
The EP's artwork has drawn nearly as much attention as the release date. SM Entertainment commissioned the cover from a small artist who had about 15,000 followers on Instagram at the time of the announcement. Since the news broke, that account has added around 30,000 followers, climbing to roughly 18,000.
Fan response has framed the comeback as a moment worth watching. "This Red Velvet comeback is the most interesting thing to happen in K-POP in a while," one fan wrote. "I'm really looking forward to it," said another.
