Nam Joo-hyuk, Roh Yoon-seo Chase a Palace Curse in Netflix's "The East Palace"
Netflix has released a second batch of stills for its upcoming series "The East Palace," offering a closer look at the characters caught in a palace curse. The images tease the chemistry among leads Nam Joo-hyuk, Roh Yoon-seo and Cho Seung-woo, along with the show's heavy, mysterious mood.
"The East Palace" follows Gucheon, played by Nam Joo-hyuk, a man who can cross into the world of ghosts, and Saenggang, a court lady with a secret, played by Roh Yoon-seo. Summoned by the king, played by Cho Seung-woo, the two set out to uncover the curse haunting the eastern palace.
One still shows Gucheon disoriented as he steps into the ghost realm. Another captures Saenggang listening to a spirit whispering in her ear. The identity of the figure Gucheon meets and the ghost hovering near Saenggang hint at the chain of events about to unfold inside the palace.
Another image lingers on the king's troubled expression as he visits a Buddhist shrine. Having personally called Gucheon and Saenggang to the palace, the king may hold the first thread to unraveling the curse.
The royal household also comes into view. The crown prince, played by Kwak Dong-yeon, the queen dowager, played by Jang Young-nam, Iksang-gun, played by Tae In-ho, and Royal Noble Consort Suk of the Choi clan, played by Hwang Young-hee, each react in their own way as deaths pile up inside the eastern palace. Kim Sang-seon, the king's aide played by Hong Seo-jun, and a shaman summoned by the queen dowager, played by Lee Hong-nae, are also pulled into the case, adding to the tension.
"The East Palace" begins streaming on Netflix on the 17th.
