tvN variety series "The Village Barber" is coming back for a second season, and it is bringing a new face along. Actor Ko Kyoung-pyo is joining the cast for the show's November return.

"The Village Barber" follows the day-to-day running of a small hair salon in Muju, a quiet countryside town in South Korea, where the cast trims hair and, as the show frames it, tends to customers' hearts along the way. Season one paired Park Bo-gum with fellow actors Lee Sang-yi and Kwak Dong-yeon.

The first season was a solid performer for the network. In tvN's target demographic of men and women aged 20 to 49, it ranked first in its time slot across all channels, including major broadcasters, for seven consecutive weeks. It also topped its time slot among cable and general programming channels in household ratings for six straight weeks, based on paid platform figures covering cable, IPTV, and satellite, according to Nielsen Korea.

For season two, Park Bo-gum and Lee Sang-yi return, with Ko Kyoung-pyo rounding out the trio. Ko Kyoung-pyo has built a reputation on Korean variety television for his honest talk and easy, approachable presence, and producers are betting that energy will translate into the show's low-key rural setting.

The pairing also carries a long personal history. Park Bo-gum and Ko Kyoung-pyo first worked together on the dramas "Naeil's Cantabile" and "Reply 1988," and have remained close friends since. That real-life chemistry is one of the season's early selling points.

"The Village Barber" season two premieres in November on tvN.
