Hong Jong-hyun to Make Stage Debut in Play 'Closer' This September
Korean actor Hong Jong-hyun is stepping onto the theater stage for the first time in his career. His agency, Secret ENT, confirmed on July 15 that he will star in the play "Closer."
"Closer" is set in 1990s London and follows four people, Larry, Anna, Dan, and Alice, whose lives become tangled after they meet. Hong Jong-hyun will play Dan, a character caught between his feelings for Alice and Anna. His steady acting and calm presence are expected to bring new depth to the role.
The play marks a meaningful turn in Hong Jong-hyun's career. He is drawing on years of screen work as he tries live theater for the first time, and industry watchers are curious to see what he brings to the stage.
Earlier this year, Hong Jong-hyun starred opposite actress Oh Yeon-seo in the Channel A drama "Positively Yours" (Agiga Saenggyeosseoyo). He also recently appeared with actress Kim You-jung in the TVING original "Dear X," which aired on tvN, in a sharp shift from his usual roles.
"Closer" runs from September 15 through December 6 at YES24 Stage 2 in Seoul.
