TVXQ's Yunho Reveals He Was Rejected Four Times by the Same Woman
TVXQ's Yunho, 40, revealed he was once rejected four times by the same woman. He shared the story during a candid conversation about dating and marriage on Korean television.
The SBS variety show "But Wait, Really!" aired the episode on the 20th, featuring Yunho, Sunmi, and Jonathan discussing their views on relationships.
Jonathan kicked things off by recalling his first-ever relationship. "I confessed around 7 p.m. and she said yes, so I went to sleep feeling excited," he said. "But the next morning, I woke up to a long message. She wanted to break up because she needed to focus on her studies." He added with a wry smile, "The relationship ended in one night."
Yunho said his own thoughts about marriage go back years. "My parents got married at 27, so I once told my company I wanted to get married at that age too," he said. "Lee Soo-man told me, 'Marriage is fine, but you should wait a little before having kids.'"
Asked how he feels about marriage now, Yunho said he is open to it. "If I meet the right person, I'd like to. Sometimes I look at my nieces and nephews and my heart shakes a little." Then came the confession that surprised everyone in the studio. "I was actually rejected by one woman four times," he said.
He explained why he thinks it happened. "The worst kind of guy, to me, is a busy guy," Yunho said. "When you're an idol, you spend a lot of time overseas. Being there for someone when something happens in their life matters a lot, and that was hard for me to do." He continued, "Looking back, I really was the bad guy. Now we can video call whenever we want, but back then, we didn't even have that."
When Tak Jae-hoon asked whether the woman was also a celebrity, Yunho laughed off the question. "I'll leave that to your imagination," he said.
Sunmi shared her own approach to dating. "I've always dated the person I liked more, and if I like someone, I'm the type to confess first," she said. As for her ideal type, she pointed to a specific look. "I like long, angular faces. Someone like Matt Damon, the kind of face that suits pomade hair," she said. "Like Hyun Bin in 'Made in Korea.'"
