ILLIT's New Japanese Title Track Chosen as ABEMA Drama Opening Theme

ILLIT's upcoming Japanese title track has been selected as the opening theme song for a new original drama from Japanese streaming platform ABEMA.

According to BELIFT LAB on July 22, "I Got Your Back," the title track from ILLIT's second Japanese single album of the same name, will serve as the opening theme for "The Rules of Vacation", an ABEMA original series premiering on July 27.

"I Got Your Back" is a rock-influenced song about offering comfort to a friend through life's anxieties and pressures. A preview of the track was featured in the drama's latest trailer, pairing its bright, upbeat melody with the series' summery atmosphere.

The drama follows Midori Hoshino, played by Kanna Hashimoto, who embarks on a vacation where she meets mysterious villa caretaker Nishigami, portrayed by Chae Jong-hyeop. As the two grow closer, the story explores romance and self-discovery.

The announcement marks another Japanese soundtrack credit for ILLIT as in 2025, the group's song "Almond Chocolate" served as the theme song for the film “Face Is All You Need to Like Someone” and later received the Excellent Work Award at the 67th Japan Record Awards after achieving long-running success on Japanese music charts.

ILLIT is also set to wrap up the Japan leg of its "ILLIT LIVE 'PRESS START♥︎' in JAPAN" tour this week with concerts in Tokyo on July 23 and July 25–26. All songs from the group's second Japanese single album will be released digitally on July 26, followed by the physical release on July 29.
