"I hope people don't simply think this is another refreshing concept, but that it's the kind of refreshing style only NouerA can do." - Hyunjun

NouerA introduced a brighter side of the group on July 27, holding a media showcase at Seoul’s YES24 LIVE Hall in the Gwangjin District to commemorate the release of their 4th mini album ".exe."

Approximately four months after concluding promotions for its previous release "POP IT LIKE," the seven-member group made up of Gihyeon, Junpyo, Hyunjun, Yuseop, Lin, Fan and Miraku returned with its first youthful, love-confession concept, marking a notable departure from the performance-focused image it has showcased since debut.

The album uses the computer term ".exe," which refers to an executable file, as a metaphor for finally putting a confession into an action. It consists of four tracks, ".exe," "LOCKED IN," "W.T.F(un)," which marks the group's first attempt at a digi-core inspired track while "LIFE IN COLOR" closes the album with a warmer tone.

The title track ".exe" follows a boy who leaves the boundaries of his own world and races across dimensions to reach the person he loves, combining heavy bass lines, hyper-synth sounds and unpredictable beat drops to capture the group's energetic and playful style.

Throughout the album, NouerA explores different stages of love, from deciding to confess, to becoming completely immersed in another person ultimately turning a once black-and-white world now transformed through love.

During the showcase, the members performed the title track for the first time and explained that the comeback allowed them to explore an entirely different side of themselves. While previous title tracks emphasized intense performances and charismatic concepts, the group said they had long hoped to try something brighter.

"We had always wanted to challenge a refreshing concept," Gihyeon said. "Now that we're actually doing it, it feels like something we imagined has become reality." Hyunjun added that the group hopes listeners recognize this comeback as more than simply another youthful concept.

"People have always associated NouerA with powerful performances," Hyunjun said. "This time we wanted to show that we can also deliver bright, lovable songs. I hope people feel this isn't just another refreshing concept, but something that only NouerA can do."

The members also discussed how their ongoing "Catch the Wave" world tour influenced the comeback preparations. Having already performed across five European cities as well as Hong Kong and Japan, they said the experience significantly improved both their confidence and live performances.

Asked by K-POPIT about the most memorable moments from the European tour and how those concerts differed from performances elsewhere, member Junpyo recalled being surprised by the audience's enthusiasm even before the concerts officially began.

"During soundcheck, the fans were already at one hundred percent," he said. "Normally we gradually build the atmosphere during a concert, but they were already cheering with so much energy from the beginning."

He also noted that the shorter distance between the stage and audience made interactions feel more intimate, allowing the members to communicate more directly with fans throughout the performances.

Hyunjun echoed those sentiments, saying the European audiences' energy helped push the group beyond their initial nerves. "Even with our in-ear monitors on, we could hear the fans cheering," he said. "It was our first solo tour in Europe, so we were nervous at first, but their energy made us perform at full power. I think both our live vocals and performances improved a lot because of the tour."

Looking ahead, the group's maknae, Miraku, shared one goal the members hope to accomplish during the new promotions: earning NouerA's first music show trophy. "I really want us to win first place on a music show with this comeback," he said, adding that he believes he would cry if the group achieved the milestone.

With ".exe," NouerA presents its brightest concept to date while retaining the confidence and performance experience gained throughout its first world tour, as the group looks to continue expanding its identity beyond the powerful image established during its rookie year.

NouerA will release their 4th mini-album ".exe" on Monday July 27th at 6 p.m KST on various music streaming platforms.
