Hwasa Finishes 'SUMMER SWAG' Set With Bloodied Knees, Raising Fan Concern
Singer Hwasa completed her performance at Psy's "SUMMER SWAG" concert despite suffering injuries to her knees, prompting concern from fans online.
Videos and eyewitness accounts from the July 25 concert in Wonju, Gangwon Province, circulated on Korean online communities and social media this week. The Wonju show was held at Wonju Sports Complex as part of Psy's nationwide summer concert tour.
While performing songs including "Maria" and "Chili," Hwasa moved onto an extended stage and repeatedly dropped to her knees as part of the choreography. Her knees became scraped and began to bleed, but she continued performing and completed her entire set.
Fans who attended the concert expressed concern while praising her professionalism. Comments included, "Please protect Hwasa's knees," "It's heartbreaking" and "Her knees were badly scraped, but she still gave the performance everything she had."
It was not the first time Hwasa had injured her knee during the concert series. She suffered a similar injury at the opening "SUMMER SWAG" show in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province, on June 27. Psy's annual summer concerts feature large amounts of water sprayed across the venue and stage throughout the performances.
Meanwhile, Hwasa recently reunited with her MAMAMOO bandmates for the special single "4WARD," the group's first full-group release in three years and eight months. The group began its "4WARD" world tour with three concerts in Seoul from June 19 to 21 before continuing to cities including Macau, Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, Melbourne, Sydney, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.
