Did Stray Kids' Visuals Cause the Heat Wave?
K-pop group Stray Kids kicked off a new world tour with an energy that matched Seoul's heat wave. The group closed out a five-night Seoul run of "Stray Kids World Tour <RUN IT>" on August 2 at KSPO DOME in Songpa district, Seoul.
The Seoul leg ran July 25, 26 and 29, then August 1 and 2, for five shows in total. Saturday's concert was the finale.
Members Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and I.N opened the show with "Great Man," "Hellevator" and "District 9." After the opening set, they greeted the crowd with a loud "STAY hi!" — a nod to the group's fandom name — and then said hello to fans around the world in English, Japanese and other languages.
Seoul hit a high of 35 degrees Celsius (about 95 Fahrenheit) on the day of the finale. Han joked about it from the stage. "It's even hotter than yesterday. Maybe it's because we're better-looking today," he said. "Sorry. Moving on." Seungmin added, "The hotter it is, the harder we'll work to chase the heat away."
Bang Chan welcomed fans to the last night. "Welcome to day five of RUN IT Seoul, the final show. The energy in here is really hot," he said. "I'm going to trust that we can keep this energy up until the end. You have to dance and jump with us. The calories you burn tonight are going to be no joke. You won't even be puffy tomorrow."
Stray Kids will release a new mini-album, "THIS & THAT," on August 7 at 1 p.m. KST (midnight ET). In September, the group heads to Brazil to perform at the major music festival Rock in Rio. They will also take a new festival built around the group, "STRAYCITY", to three cities across Latin America.
