Stray Kids Show Grit in the Summer Heat: Thumb Rash, Calluses Worn Off
K-pop group Stray Kids closed out a five-night Seoul run of their new world tour on Sunday. The group also revealed the physical toll of performing through the summer heat.
Stray Kids, made up of Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin and I.N, held the Seoul stop of "Stray Kids World Tour <RUN IT>" at KSPO DOME in Songpa district, Seoul, on Aug. 2. The show capped a five-night stand across July 25, 26 and 29 and Aug. 1 and 2.
The members made no secret of what those five nights cost them. "After sweating through five days of shows, I got eczema on my thumb," Hyunjin told the crowd. "That's how much passion we're putting into this." Fans responded with cheers.
Other members chimed in with their own complaints. "It's not just Hyunjin. My fingers are swollen too," one said. Lee Know cut in with a joke, telling him to wash up more often, and drew a round of laughs.
As the members compared hands on stage, Changbin pointed out that the youngest member had escaped the damage. I.N fired back that the calluses on his toes had peeled off instead, catching the rest of the group off guard.
Stray Kids will release a new mini album, "THIS & THAT," on Aug. 7 at 1 p.m. KST, or midnight Eastern time. In September, the group will perform at Rock in Rio, one of Brazil's largest music festivals, as part of their continued global push.
The group is also launching a new festival of their own. Built around Stray Kids as the anchor act, "STRAYCITY" will travel to three cities across Latin America.
