Mnet's new choreographer survival series Street World Fighter: Director's War is drawing strong interest before it even airs. A preview clip has passed 840,000 views in two days, and the résumés of its 10 competing choreographers are getting almost as much attention as the show itself.

Premiering August 18 at 10 p.m. KST on Mnet and tvN, "Street World Fighter: Director's War" follows choreographers who want to become "performance directors," the people who design and stage major performances. The goal is simple: earn a spot in the director credits.

The 45-minute preview episode released on August 5 had topped 840,000 views by the morning of August 7. Alongside returning names from the Street franchise, including Nain, BADA, Baek Gu-young, Shimizu and In Kyu, the show introduces new competitors Renan, BABYJOO, Jung Min-joon, Kasper and Hash.

One of the most talked-about names is Kasper, who oversaw TAEMIN's Coachella set, the first Coachella stage led by a solo male K-pop artist. "The 2026 TAEMIN Coachella stage, which I directed as the first Korean choreographer to handle the full staging, is the one that stays with me most," she said, calling it the most meaningful project of her career.

Renan, who has shaped some of aespa's signature performances, pointed to two stages. "Armageddon and the Whiplash stage at the 2024 MAMA AWARDS were the projects that matched the style I'm going for," he said. "Having the choreography for the title track of a full album fully adopted is also something I take great pride in."

BABYJOO chose her work on BLACKPINK's "Sour Candy" stage as the highlight of her career. "Seeing the members fully commit to the choreography and direction I had in mind gave me real confidence as a choreographer," she said.

Hash, known for large-scale mega-performances, said no single project stood out. What mattered was the moment on stage. "The most thrilling part is when the reaction lands exactly where I planted the 'wow point,'" he said. "That's the moment I know the stage I imagined reached the audience the way I intended."

Jung Min-joon pointed to "Caravan," the routine that won back-to-back titles at the 2026 season of the global VIBE Competition, as his signature work.

Asked about dream collaborators, Renan named a mix of new and legacy artists. "I'd love to work with Jennie and All Day Project, artists with a really clear color of their own," he said. "Directing a stage for the TVXQ sunbaes, who I've looked up to since I was young, is a dream I've held onto for a long time."

Hash said he wants to bring out "the unique, high-energy color that only KATSEYE has." Jung Min-joon said he hopes to collaborate with Justin Bieber, calling him "a source of inspiration and someone who genuinely moves me."

Kasper set her sights on the Super Bowl halftime show. "Whichever artist it's with, I'd love to contribute in even a small way to a global stage like the Super Bowl halftime show," she said, framing it as her long-term goal as a performance director.

BABYJOO named Coachella as her ultimate target. "I see it as a stage where one performance can cross borders and reach so many more people," she said. "One day I want to stand at Coachella with an artist I've directed and show the kind of performance I've been chasing."

The producers framed the show as a step beyond dance competition. "We hope viewers look forward to seeing what new aesthetic these 10 choreographers, who have already built global reputations, will bring as top-level stage directors rather than just performers," they said. "Please pay close attention to this 'work war' they will fight under their own names."

"Street World Fighter: Director's War" premieres August 18 at 10 p.m. KST on Mnet and tvN simultaneously. It will also stream on TVING and Mnet Plus.
