Netflix is heading back to high school. The streamer has confirmed production on a new Korean series called "No Crushing Allowed," a teen romantic comedy set between two elite schools separated by a single wall. Moon Sang-min, Shin Sia, Lee Min-jae and Choi Hee-jin have signed on to star.

The show takes place at Jinwol Boys' High School and Jinwol Girls' High School, two rival campuses competing for top academic honors. A local ghost story warns that anyone who crosses the wall between them will pay a price. School rules go a step further. Any student caught dating faces expulsion. The series follows a group of 19-year-olds who bump into first love inside that strict setup.

The show is directed by Lee Su-hyun, known for the short-form titles "Filing for Love" (Eunmilhan Gamsa), "My Dearest Nemesis" (Geunomeun Heugyeomryong) and "Sh**ting Stars" (Byeoltongbyeol). The script comes from writer Lee Na-eun, who wrote the Netflix film "Melo Movie" and the drama "Our Beloved Summer." Both have built their careers on youth romance, and the new series leans into that territory again through the story of a first crush during the last year of high school.

Moon Sang-min plays Lee Chi-won, the student body president at Jinwol Boys' High School. Chi-won is the kind of student adults point to as a model: strong in class, strong in sports and known for treating people well. Moon previously appeared in the Netflix film "Pavane" (Pavane) and the dramas "To My Beloved Thief" (Eunaehaneun Dojeoknima) and "Under the Queen's Umbrella." He won the New Actor prize at the 46th Grand Bell Cinematography Awards.

Shin Sia takes on the role of So-ran, the student body president at Jinwol Girls' High School. So-ran throws herself into everything and is well-liked by classmates. She also sees Chi-won, a childhood friend, as her main rival. Shin Sia previously appeared in the drama "Resident Playbook" and the film "The Witch: Part 2. The Other One."

Chi-won and So-ran grew up together, but their new roles as rival class presidents put them on opposite sides. Whether the tension between them is pure competition or something closer to a first crush is the question that drives the show's central romance.

Lee Min-jae plays Gong Su-ho, Chi-won's love-hate rival at Jinwol Boys'. Su-ho starts getting close to So-ran for reasons of his own, and that move shifts the balance between Chi-won and So-ran. Lee previously appeared in the Netflix series "Weak Hero Class 2" and the drama "Crash Course in Romance."

Choi Hee-jin joins as Kim Ri-ji, a transfer student at Jinwol Girls'. Bright and full of energy, Ri-ji becomes So-ran's roommate and quickly works her way into her daily life. Choi built her name through the dramas "Heavenly Ever After" (Cheonggukboda Areumdaun) and "Idol: The Coup" (Aidoraia).

"No Crushing Allowed" will stream on Netflix.
