ENHYPEN Talks Six-Member Reboot Ahead of 'Bloody Paradise' Release
K-pop boy group ENHYPEN is making its first comeback since reorganizing as a six-member act. The group held a press conference on Aug. 20 at Mondrian Seoul Itaewon in Yongsan district, Seoul, to mark the release of its eighth EP, "THE SIN : BLISS."
ENHYPEN has been performing as a six-member group since March, when Heeseung (Evan) left the lineup. The remaining members are Jungwon, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo and Ni-ki. While this is their first album as a six-piece, the members said their approach to a comeback has not changed.
"I always feel the same way. No matter the situation, the stage and the performance come first," Jungwon said. "Starting with our Seoul concert in May, we continued the tour through North and South America and Busan, and got a lot of energy from ENGENE," referring to the group's fandom. "We could see that ENGENE feel the same way we do, and that helped us work hard on preparing this comeback."
Jungwon added, "Rather than thinking about the number of members, I focused on how to make the final result better."
The members kept working through the sudden lineup change. "Right after the team was reorganized, we had a show in Australia," Jungwon said. "Fans judge us by what they see on stage, so I thought about how to put on the best show as professionally as possible. After that, we stayed busy working on the album."
The new EP is the second chapter in "THE SIN" series, which takes sin as its central motif. It follows a couple who break a taboo and choose to run away, tracing the end of their journey. The title track, "Bloody Paradise," is a Brazilian funk song that frames the lovers as finding paradise in only seeing each other, even as they are chased and cornered.
ENHYPEN's eighth EP "THE SIN : BLISS" drops on Aug. 21 at 1 p.m. KST.
