IVE's Jang Won-young Nods to 'Crossed Arms' Controversy With New Photos
IVE member Jang Won-young is nodding to a recent online debate about her behavior. On August 20, she shared a set of photos on Instagram with the caption, "Wanna go to the amusement park with me?🎠🎡🎢🤍"
In the pictures, Jang wears blue denim jeans with a halterneck off-shoulder top. The outfit is the same one she wore at a Korean amusement park event on the 1st of last month.
That earlier appearance drew criticism online. While staff spoke to the group, Jang stood with her arms crossed, unlike the other members. Some netizens said the pose looked rude. Comments included, "Crossing your arms while someone is talking to you...", "Is crossing her arms a habit?" and "This isn't nitpicking, it's about manners." Others pushed back, arguing that people were reading too much into a small moment.
It was not the first time Jang faced this kind of criticism. On May 30, while traveling to Shanghai, China, she was seen crossing her arms in front of an immigration officer trying to check her face and grabbing her passport back in a way some viewers described as abrupt. The clip sparked heated back-and-forth online.
Jang recently traveled to the United States for a high-profile appearance. On the 26th of last month local time, she threw the ceremonial first pitch at Citi Field in New York, ahead of a game between the New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
