EVAN Ready to Race Ahead With Title Track Sampler
Former ENHYPEN member EVAN is returning with his first mini-album, "DEATH OF ME," a pop R&B-driven project set for release on Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. KST.
On Aug. 26, EVAN posted track samplers for the title track "Death of Me" and the B-side "Twilight" on his official social media. Each clip translates the mood of its song into a single visual object. EVAN co-wrote and co-composed both tracks.
The "Death of Me" sampler centers on a speedometer racing toward its limit before shattering as if it has exploded, a visual meant to capture the song's forward rush. Lyrics including "Can't stop," "Even if I come to a stop, this ain't the death of me," and "A destiny about to begin, etched into me" pair with the song's intense pop R&B sound. Together, they convey EVAN's determination to move forward from a new starting point.
"Twilight" is a pop song built on a UK garage rhythm. In the sampler, the dial of a lock spins in time with the beat, and the lock releases once the song title falls into place on the dial. The track uses twilight as a metaphor for a blissful moment shared with someone and the feeling of not wanting to wake from it.
"DEATH OF ME" carries a message about moving forward without losing direction, even when different emotions collide. Across the album's eight tracks, EVAN explores his inner world through a range of sounds. He also led the overall production of the project.
EVAN had already shared samplers for the album's other B-sides. Snippets of the dream pop track "Going Home," the pop R&B song "Noise," built on lo-fi guitar riffs, the trap track "Not Enough" and the alternative rock song "Immature" have all been released ahead of the album.
EVAN debuted as a member of ENHYPEN in 2020 before launching his solo career with the digital single "RIDE OR DIE" in June. "DEATH OF ME" marks his first comeback as a solo artist.
