aespa's Winter is having a loud week. The singer landed the top spot on K-POPIT BOARD's global buzz ranking after dropping a new solo track and lining up a high-profile baseball appearance on the same day.

On August 28, according to the K-pop analytics platform K-POPIT BOARD, Winter took first place on the Global Power Index (PWR(GL)) with a score of 73. She also placed third on the Korea Power Index (PWR(KR)) with a score of 71.

The surge traces back to her solo digital single "Speed of Summer," released August 27 at 6 p.m. KST through Dingo Music's project series. As the song caught on, Winter posted a Momentum score of 95, a metric based on social media and YouTube mentions and views. YouTube mentions of the singer jumped 64.7 percent in a single day.

That attention also translated into streams. Her Viral Conversion score, which tracks how online attention turns into actual streams, came in at 50. Her D-tier score, measure of interest from non-fandom general audiences, doubled in a day, climbing 100 percent.

"Speed of Summer" is an alternative punk rock track built around a live-band sound, aimed at capturing the release of a summer night. Geoff Pesche of London's famous Abbey Road Studios handled the mastering.

The released campaign centered on visuals. A teaser dropped on August 26, followed by a special clip on August 28, both drawing steady traffic online. The special clip pulled in 770,000 views within 15 hours of release.

Fans reacted warmly. "A song called 'Speed of Summer' sung by Winter (winter). I'd love to see a spring, fall and winter version too," one wrote. Another said, "If Winter keeps stacking solo tracks, she could headline a festival stage. This one is made for an outdoor festival." A third added, "The band sound and Winter's vocals fit surprisingly well. I hope she keeps going in this direction."

The buzz was boosted by news of a baseball first pitch. Winter is set to throw the ceremonial first pitch on August 28 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, ahead of the game between the Doosan Bears and the Kiwoom Heroes. It marks her return to the mound for the first time in two years, following her last appearance in July 2024, and the Doosan club's official announcement drew wide attention.

"I'm happy to be back at Jamsil Stadium after two years, and it feels new all over again," Winter said. "I'll bring good energy and good vibes."
