TXT's Taehyun Takes on 'Begin Again Open Mic' Saying "I Wanted to Give Listeners Comfort"
TXT's Taehyun has taken on another busking performance, this time appearing on JTBC's 'Begin Again Open Mic.'
Taehyun appeared in an episode released through the 'Begin Again' YouTube channel on August 31, joining singers Tei, Jung Eun-ji and So Soo-bin for a busking session at the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Human Resources Development Institute in Ulsan.
"This is my first time visiting Begin Again," Taehyun said at the start of the episode. "I'll do my best so I don't fall short alongside these incredibly talented senior artists."
For his performance, Taehyun selected "Quarter Life," a unit track by Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai from TXT's sixth mini album, "minisode 3: TOMORROW." Taehyun also participated in writing the lyrics for the song.
Taehyun said he had chosen the track as it reflects the uncertainty people can experience as they reach roughly a quarter of the way through their lives.
"I heard that when people reach the quarter point of their lives, they often start questioning their own value and existence," he said. "I wanted to give listeners something they could relate to and find comfort in."
"Quarter Life" deals with feeling trapped in a seemingly endless tunnel while maintaining the determination to continue moving forward. Now 24, Taehyun delivered the song with a particular connection to its subject matter.
His performance also drew praise from the other singers, who complimented his vocal tone and delivery. One remarked that the performance felt genuinely encouraging, while another praised the strength and clarity of his singing.
Taehyun previously explored busking through ENA's Change Street, where he performed reinterpretations of songs including Sung Si-kyung's "On the Street," Brown Eyed Soul's "Did We Really Love," Shin Seung-hun's "I Believe" and Yim Jae-beum's "After This Night."
Additional performances from Taehyun are expected to be released through 'Begin Again Open Mic,' which uploads new content to its YouTube channel every Monday at 6 p.m. KST. The program will also air on JTBC on September 3 at 11:50 p.m. KST.
Meanwhile, TXT has recently received the K-World Dream Best Album Award at the 2026 K-World Dream Awards on August 27.
