ILLIT on Moka's Recovery: "Please Wait Until She Comes Back"
K-POP girl group ILLIT shared an update on member Moka, who has been on hiatus for health reasons.
The group held a media showcase on Oct. 26 at Woori WON Banking Hall at Blue Square in Seoul's Hannam-dong neighborhood to mark the release of its fifth EP, "BREAK EVEN." The group is promoting with four members for this comeback, as Moka has been on hiatus since June because of health issues.
"This is the first time we've prepared a comeback with four members," Minju said. "We really felt Moka's absence. We thought this concept would have suited her so well, too, so we were really disappointed she couldn't join us."
Moka has continued to support the members during her hiatus.
"At our concert and whenever we meet, Moka tells us she's been keeping up with our content and says we look great," Minju said. "That gives us a lot of strength. Although we're promoting with four members this time, we'll keep Moka in our hearts and do our best to fill the stage."
Iroha said Moka had also listened to the new album and encouraged the group.
"Moka listened to the songs on this album, said she really liked them, and cheered us on a lot," she said. "She really wants to return to the fans and is working hard on her recovery."
"Recently, we all got together and talked about the kind of music we want to make in the future," Iroha added. "We hope you'll wait for Moka until she returns."
Iroha is also recovering from a recent ankle injury.
"I'm sorry for worrying so many fans, and I'm grateful for their concern," she said. "I'm working hard on my recovery. I'll recover as quickly as I can so I can show you more good performances during these promotions."
"BREAK EVEN" tells the story of someone who pours their heart into a crush, only to realize the feelings are one-sided and reach a turning point in the relationship. The title track, "You're Under Arrest," is an electro-pop song that frames the experience of mistaking someone's habitual kindness for romantic interest as an arrest operation.
ILLIT's fifth EP, "BREAK EVEN," was released on music platforms on Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. KST.
