WayV's KUN Reveals the Song That Got Him Into SM Entertainment
WayV's KUN and YANGYANG are heading to China's Taining with the cast of Korean variety show "Hit and Miss Tour." During the trip, Kun reveals the song that got him through his SM Entertainment audition.
Channel S and E Channel's "Hit and Miss Tour" airs its 15th episode on Friday at 9 p.m. KST. The episode follows comedians Kim Dae-hee, Kim Jun-ho, Jang Dong-min, Yoo Se-yoon and Hong In-kyu, as they set out on a bamboo raft tour through Danxia in Taining, China, alongside Kun and YangYang. The area is known for its dramatic red cliffs.
The group begins the tour at Shangqing Stream in Danxia, a UNESCO World Heritage site. As they drift through the canyon on bamboo rafts, a Chinese boatman breaks into a traditional folk song. The cast falls quiet, taking in the scene.
When the song ends, Yoo Se-yoon asks Kun to sing a verse. Kun launches into Jay Chou's "Qing Hua Ci (Blue & White Porcelain)" on the spot. Then he reveals a surprising detail that catches the Dokbakz off guard.
"This is the song I passed my SM audition with," Kun says.
The raft ride also turns into a conversation about the generation gap between YangYang and the older comedians. "This kind of rest during a busy schedule is really precious to me," YangYang says. Kim Dae-hee and Kim Jun-ho fire back with a rueful line of their own. "We want to work, but there's no work," they say.
YangYang jokes that the two are "old enough to be resting now." Kim Jun-ho, who is expecting a son, pushes back. "I'm not your grandfather," he says. "You work hard first, then you play."
YangYang also opens up about his family. When he mentions he has one older sister in addition to his parents, Kim Dae-hee asks if the two siblings look alike. "I take after my mom, and my sister takes after my dad," YangYang says, jokingly adding, "That's why I ended up debuting as an idol."
