Japanese Girl Group f5ve Speaks Out on Lack Of New Music Saying "We Wish We Could"
Japanese girl group f5ve has sparked concern over its future after the group's official social media account publicly suggested that its members want to record new music but are being prevented from doing so.
Fans have recently begun rallying around the hashtag #savef5ve, directing criticism toward the group's management at LDH Japan over what they see as limited promotion and a lack of new recording opportunities. The campaign gained significantly more attention after f5ve itself began responding to the discussion.
When one fan told the group to "GET IN THE STUDIO NOWWWWW," f5ve's verified account replied simply, "wish we could." In another exchange, the group stated, "we have wanted to record music," adding that "we have not wanted to take time."
The account became even more direct when another user questioned what was stopping the group. f5ve responded, "if we want to and the producers want to, who is left?" The reply has fueled speculation that the group was pointing toward its management without naming it directly.

f5ve also told fans through another platform that all of its songs, excluding its Bacardi collaborations, had been recorded before 2024, writing that the members "would love to record new music." Fans have subsequently tagged both LDH's official accounts and the group's executive producer BloodPop while demanding greater support for future releases.
The comments arrive at an unusual point in f5ve's career. The five-member Japanese group consists of SAYAKA, KAEDE, MIYUU and RURI, who previously promoted as members of Happiness and E-girls, alongside RUI of iScream. The project first appeared as SG5 in 2022 before relaunching under the f5ve name in 2024, with Grammy-winning producer BloodPop serving as executive producer.
Its first album, "SEQUENCE 01," followed in May 2025, combining hyperpop, dance, rock and electronic influences through production from BloodPop, A. G. Cook, Hudson Mohawke and others. An expanded release, "SEQUENCE 01.5," arrived that November with 29 tracks across two discs, including new songs "Wish," "Snowman" and "I Choose You."
Yet while questions surround when f5ve will actually record its next material, the group's live activities are continuing to expand. f5ve is currently preparing for its first Australian shows alongside South Korean artist The Deep this October. Melbourne and Sydney sold out shortly after tickets went on sale, prompting an additional Brisbane performance on October 7.
That growing overseas demand has only added to fans' frustration as they argue that the group should be capitalizing on its increasing international attention with new recordings and more substantial promotional support rather than continuing to rely primarily on existing material.
The broader allegations surrounding LDH's treatment of f5ve remain claims made by fans and should be treated as such. The group's own comments, however, make one point considerably harder to dismiss: f5ve says it wants to make new music.
With the members publicly expressing that desire and suggesting that producers are similarly willing, the group's unusually candid replies have left fans questioning what, or who, is standing between f5ve and its next recording session.
