KATSEYE has found a new way to respond to the ongoing conversation surrounding its target fanbase by putting it on a T-shirt.

The group has launched an official white tee emblazoned with the phrase "I AM KATSEYE'S TARGET AUDIENCE" in bold pink lettering. Priced at $30, the shirt is currently available for pre-order through KATSEYE's official store and Weverse.

While simple on the surface, the phrase directly taps into a debate that has followed the group throughout its ongoing "WILD WORLD TOUR," particularly during its recent European dates.

Videos and accounts from the concerts have drawn attention to the noticeably wide age range among attendees, including children as young as nine. For some older fans, the number of young concertgoers came as a surprise considering KATSEYE's increasingly mature pop image, lyrics and performances.

That has prompted a broader discussion over who KATSEYE's "target audience" actually is. Holding an unusual space between the Western pop market and the K-POP industry system, it has naturally attracted audiences from both markets. Moreover, KATSEYE's colorful styling, choreography, collaborations with items such as Monster High and Gui Gui Slime and idol-like content can appeal to younger listeners.

On the contrary, KATSEYE's music and visual concept may lean toward an older teenage and young adult demographic. Especially as since their debut they had heavily been associated with the K-POP training system and had been introduced to audiences through the Dream Academy program.

The phrase "KATSEYE's target audience" has consequently become something of a joke among fans online, with listeners of different ages pointing to themselves as evidence that the group cannot easily be assigned one demographic.

Now, with the quick turnaround and release of the shirts, KASTEYE appears to be willing to join in on the joke that many have carried since the beginning of their tour two weeks ago.

Reaction to the merchandise has been divided as some fans have praised the group and its team for quickly turning an online conversation into self-aware merchandise, while others have questioned the decision to monetize a debate that has also included more serious criticism surrounding the tour and fandom.

Either way, the shirt offers perhaps the simplest answer yet to the question of who KATSEYE is making music for which is anyone willing to wear it.
