Lee Seo-jin's 'Biseojin' Tops Netflix Korea Comedy Chart for Three Weeks

Actor Lee Seo-jin, long known for a blunt on-camera style that has drawn criticism in past seasons, is showing a very different side on his current SBS variety show. The shift is resonating with viewers. The program has now spent three straight weeks at No. 1 on Netflix Korea's comedy chart.

Lee Seo-jin stars in "My Genie Secretary" (Mueosideun Haejulgini - Biseojin), which airs Fridays on SBS. In each episode, he serves as a one-day secretary to a celebrity guest, handling their full schedule.

Earlier seasons drew mixed reactions to his direct, sometimes prickly manner. When male guests such as Ji Chang-wook and Do Kyung-soo appeared, he made comments like "I told you not to book men" and often seemed to dismiss past guests' suggestions. Some viewers criticized his attitude.

This season, his approach looks noticeably softer. In the premiere, he worked as a secretary to BIBI as she prepared for her Waterbomb 2026 performance. Before meeting her, he watched a drama she had appeared in so he could talk to her about her acting. He also personally escorted her through the crowds at the event.

In episode two, he looked after actor Cha Tae-hyun, who was battling a cold. He adjusted the temperature in the car, kept drinks on hand, and reviewed the schedule and stage flow with him ahead of a performance.

Episode three paired him with singer Seo In-young. He helped her remove her contact lenses and ironed her outfits between takes at a photo shoot. He also offered her advice on the shoot, drawing on his own years of experience in front of the camera.

The numbers reflects the change in tone. "My Genie Secretary" has held the No. 2 spot overall on Netflix Korea's Today's Top 10 Series chart and No. 1 in the comedy category for three weeks running. Lee Seo-jin won the top prize in the show/variety category at the 2025 SBS Entertainment Awards last year, and he is once again anchoring the program this season.
