Park Ji-hyun Makes History as First Korean Actress Nominated for International Emmy

Actress Park Ji-hyun has become the first South Korean actress ever nominated for an acting prize at the International Emmy Awards.

The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced the nominees for the 54th International Emmy Awards on Sept. 23, with Park earning a nod in the Best Performance by an Actress category for the Netflix series "You and Everything Else."

Park is one of four finalists in the category. She will compete against actresses from Belgium, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.

"You and Everything Else," released last year, stars Kim Go-eun and Park as two women whose bond stretches across decades. Park plays Sang-yeon, portraying the character's shifting emotions as the years pass.

The series has already collected major honors in South Korea. It won Best Drama and Best Screenplay at the Baeksang Arts Awards and took Best Creative at the Global OTT Awards. Park's nomination now brings that recognition to an international stage.

Winners of the 54th International Emmy Awards will be announced on Nov. 23.
