Just two months after their debut plans were scrapped, GRID Entertainment's pre-debut boy group has unexpectedly resurfaced, this time with five members, renewed activities and fresh speculation about whether the trainees might finally get their chance to debut.

The trainees, previously introduced through the reality series "Idol Till I Die," reappeared in new social media content on October 14, surprising fans who had been left uncertain about the group's future following the project's unsuccessful conclusion in August.

The latest footage features Matthew, Lukas, Samuel, Cai Jin Xin and Oh Junhee, while Kibum, who had previously participated in the project, is absent.

The five are also reportedly preparing to return to public performances, with a busking event scheduled for October 16 at 3 p.m. KST at Moonlight Square in Seoul's Banpo Hangang Park.

The planned appearance would mark a significant development for a team whose original debut was effectively canceled just weeks earlier.

GRID Entertainment first introduced the trainees through "Idol Till I Die," a documentary-style project following their preparation for a potential debut. Rather than presenting the lineup as a confirmed upcoming group, the series placed their future in the hands of company evaluations.

Throughout the program, the trainees underwent intensive training, monthly assessments and public promotional activities, including street performances and interactions with potential fans.

However, the final episode, released in August, ended without the group receiving approval to debut. To this, GRID Entertainment CEO Shim Hye-jin explained that the trainees had not yet reached the standard required for an official launch. She also emphasized that the company did not want to offer false hope by promising a debut it could not guarantee.

Although some members were given opportunities to continue training, the decision left the group's future uncertain.

The outcome prompted mixed reactions from viewers. Some questioned why the company had invested in documenting and promoting the trainees only to conclude that they were not ready, while others argued that additional training could ultimately benefit the members.

Now, their return appears to suggest that the project may not have reached its final chapter. Fans reacted enthusiastically to the unexpected update, with discussions on various social media sites reflecting both excitement and cautious optimism.

This caution continues especially as several questions remain unanswered. GRID Entertainment has not publicly clarified whether the five-member lineup is permanent, why Kibum is absent or whether the trainees have received formal approval to debut.

Although fans have discussed the possibility of a 2027 debut, no official launch date has been confirmed.

While their reappearance raises the possibility of a second attempt, it also highlights the unpredictable nature of the trainee system, where months of preparation and public exposure do not necessarily guarantee a debut.

For the five trainees, the upcoming activities could represent an opportunity to demonstrate how much they have developed since August. Whether that progress will ultimately be enough to secure an official debut remains to be seen.

For now, however, the trainees who appeared to have reached the end of their journey are back in front of an audience, and fans are once again waiting to see what happens next.
