CHASER's Ren Suspends Fan Communication After Telling Fan 'You're Getting on My Nerves'
CHASER member Ren has temporarily suspended his fan communication activities following backlash over his rude remarks to a fan on a paid messaging platform.
On Oct. 14, his agency, Howling Entertainment, announced that Ren would stop using social media, PLUS CHAT and Fandol until further notice. The agency clarified that he would not be taking a complete break from entertainment activities.
The controversy began after screenshots of Ren's conversation with a fan circulated online. When a fan told him they had been waiting for him, Ren responded, "So what? Why are you complaining to me? You're getting on my nerves."
His response drew criticism from fans, who questioned his attitude toward those paying to communicate with him through the platform.
Howling Entertainment initially apologized on Oct. 12, acknowledging that Ren's remarks were inappropriate. The agency's CEO also issued a separate apology, admitting that the company had failed to properly guide and manage its artist and promising to prevent similar incidents.
Two days later, the agency announced the temporary suspension of Ren's communication services, saying he would use the time to work on showing a better side of himself. No date has been set for his return.
CHASER debuted in February, making the controversy one of the group's first major setbacks less than a year into its career.
