ENHYPEN Wins Over WHO Chief: "I'm a Fan, Too"
K-pop boy group ENHYPEN met with World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus to review the results of its blood donation campaign and discuss future cooperation.
According to the group's agency, BELIFT LAB, on Oct. 24, ENHYPEN met Tedros at HYBE's headquarters in Seoul's Yongsan district on Oct. 22. Officials from South Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korean Red Cross Blood Services also attended.
The meeting focused on the blood donation campaign ENHYPEN carried out with its fans. Tedros highlighted the difficulties many patients face in obtaining safe blood for transfusions when they need it. He praised the members for donating blood themselves and encouraging fans around the world to take part.
"Blood is the most precious gift anyone can give to another person. It is the gift of life," Tedros said. "I am proud of every member of ENHYPEN for working with WHO and committing to encourage blood donation and save lives."
He added that the campaign "reached millions of people and was a great success."
"ENHYPEN and ENGENE have real power to make an impact on the world," he said, referring to the group's fandom. "I'm a fan of yours, too."
Tedros also expressed hope that ENHYPEN could help raise awareness of other public health issues among young people.
The members thanked their fans for supporting the campaign. "We started this campaign hoping the people who support us would join in, and we're grateful that ENGENE around the world took part," the group said. "We want to keep making meaningful change together with our fans."
BELIFT LAB CEO Kim Tae-ho said, "ENHYPEN is a group of artists with a strong desire to change the world for the better. We will continue exploring what we can do together to make the world a better place."
ENHYPEN launched its blood donation campaign in January alongside the release of its seventh EP, "THE SIN : VANISH." Inspired by the vampire concept central to the group's storyline, the campaign was organized in partnership with the Korean Red Cross. Blood donation buses were stationed at locations frequented by fans, while online events encouraged further participation.
From Jan. 16 to 25, the campaign recorded 7,730 participants through its online and offline activities. Among them were 1,031 first-time blood donors, approximately 19 times the number recorded during the period before the campaign.
The initiative later expanded to Japan and Singapore, bringing cumulative participation to approximately 10,000.
In June, ENHYPEN expanded its efforts globally through a partnership with WHO. To mark World Blood Donor Day 2026, the group released content highlighting the importance of ensuring access to safe blood. The members also donated blood themselves to encourage greater participation.
