Japanese rapper CHANMINA has apologized after being involved in a traffic accident in Tokyo. She also denied speculation that she had driven under the influence of alcohol or drugs or fled the scene.

CHANMINA addressed the accident in a statement posted on social media on Oct. 22. "I sincerely apologize to everyone involved and to all of you for causing concern and inconvenience following these reports," she wrote.

She explained the steps she had taken after the accident. "I immediately called the police after the accident, fully cooperated with their investigation and took all necessary measures," she said. "I am currently in discussions with those involved and am taking appropriate steps to address the situation."

CHANMINA also responded to speculation surrounding the incident. "I want to make it clear that what is not true is indeed not true," she wrote. "It should go without saying, but I did not drive drunk, use drugs, flee the scene or engage in distracted driving."

"I take the fact that I caused an accident very seriously, and of course I acknowledge my fault," she continued. "I take responsibility for my actions. That is why I want to make it clear that I did not do any of those things. I have no intention of admitting to something that is not true."

Her statement came after Japanese media reported on Oct. 22 that she had been involved in an accident near an intersection in the Tomigaya area of Tokyo's Shibuya district at around 2:40 p.m. on Oct. 19.

According to local reports, CHANMINA was driving when her car struck an electric scooter parked along the left side of the road. She then collided with a stationary truck about 50 meters away.

A woman in her 20s was riding in the car with her at the time. No injuries were reported. CHANMINA reportedly told police she had misjudged her vehicle's position. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.

Born to a Korean mother and a Japanese father, CHANMINA made her major-label debut in Japan in 2017 with the album "Miseinen." She has since released songs including "Never Grow Up" and "Bijin" and served as a producer on the audition project "No No Girls," which formed the girl group HANA.

In July 2024, she announced her marriage to Korean rapper ASH ISLAND and revealed that she was pregnant. She gave birth to a daughter later that year.
