[Exclusive] Jang Se-hyuk Joins Netflix Series 'A Squared-Away Relationship'
Actor Jang Se-hyuk is joining the Netflix series "A Squared-Away Relationship" (Gakjapin Sai). The role comes right after his first lead part, in "Dive Into You" (Neoege Daibeu). This time, he will work alongside Park Hyung-sik and Park Gyu-young.
Korean outlet Tenasia reported on the 23rd that Jang has been cast in the Netflix original series. He plays Kim Geon-woo, the youngest member of the team at a camping company run by Na Jeong-seok (played by Park Hyung-sik). Kim looks up to Na, the company's CEO. On screen, Jang and Park Hyung-sik play boss and employee.
"A Squared-Away Relationship" is an office romance that flips the usual pecking order. Na runs an outdoor camping brand. His world turns over when Woo A-mi (Park Gyu-young), who was his senior back in the military, joins the company as a new hire.
The cast also includes Lee Jong-won. Filming ran from April to September, and the series is set to be released in 2027.
Jang made his debut in 2023 with "Cheongdam International High School." He went on to build experience in "Our Unwritten Seoul," "For the First Love" (Cheot, Sarangeul Wihayeo), "Pro Bono" and "The Secret Audit" (Eunmilhan Gamsa). Across those projects, he showed up in supporting parts, played younger versions of characters and made special appearances. This year, "Dive Into You" gave him his first lead role.
In that series, he played Yoon Ha-ru, a judo athlete on the national team. He reportedly beat out a field of 120 to 1 for the part. Jang drew on his own judo experience for the audition. On screen, he took on what was close to a dual role, showing a wide range of emotions.
Jang landed his first lead three years after his debut. Most of his past roles have been young characters. In his new series, he steps into an office as the newest member of the team, sharing scenes with more experienced actors like Park Hyung-sik. For a young actor who worked his way up through smaller parts, it is a chance to show viewers a different side.
