2NE1's CL Could Reunite With Producer Teddy at THEBLACKLABEL
2NE1 member CL may soon have a new agency. The singer is in talks to sign an exclusive contract with THEBLACKLABEL, the label run by her longtime producer Teddy.
THEBLACKLABEL confirmed the talks to the Korean outlet Ten Asia on Oct. 29. "We are in discussions with CL about an exclusive contract," the agency said.
CL debuted in 2009 as a member of 2NE1 under YG Entertainment. She served as the group's leader and rapper. Her hits with the group include "Fire," "I Don't Care," "I Am the Best" and "Come Back Home."
She also built a career outside the group, releasing music as a solo artist.
CL's contract with YG Entertainment ended in 2019. Since then, she has pursued independent activities. If the new deal goes through, she will once again share a label with Teddy, a producer she has known since her time at YG Entertainment.
Teddy founded THEBLACKLABEL in 2016. While at YG Entertainment, he produced music for some of the company's biggest groups, including BIGBANG, 2NE1 and BLACKPINK.
The agency's current roster includes BIGBANG's Taeyang, BLACKPINK's Rosé, Jeon Somi and the group ALLDAY PROJECT.
If signed, CL would reunite with the producer behind much of 2NE1's music. It would also add another YG Entertainment alum to a label that has become a new home for several former YG artists.
