SHINee's Minho has issued an apology after a video showing him apparently receiving physical assistance during a marathon sparked criticism online.

On Nov. 3, Minho took to social media to address the controversy surrounding his participation in the 2026 JTBC Seoul Marathon, held on Nov. 1.

"I'm sorry for disappointing so many people," he wrote. "This was entirely due to my own shortcomings, and as someone who loves sports, I feel deeply ashamed."

Minho completed his first full marathon, covering 42.195 kilometers in 3 hours and 18 seconds. He fell just 18 seconds short of his goal of finishing in under three hours, a milestone known among runners as "sub-3."

His achievement initially drew praise, but questions soon emerged after footage circulated online showing a man believed to be his pacer placing a hand on his lower back and appearing to push him forward.

Some online users pointed out that rules set by the Korea Association of Athletics Federations and World Athletics prohibit certain forms of physical assistance during races, raising concerns about the fairness of his result.

Addressing the criticism, Minho said he would not accept his finishing time.

"I'll make sure something like this never happens again," he wrote. "I won't forget what I've learned from this experience."

He also expressed his respect for fellow runners who devote their time and effort to the sport.

It remains unclear whether race organizers will take any formal action regarding his result.
