AND2BLE Takes No. 1 on 'The Show' During First Comeback
K-POP group AND2BLE has won its first music show trophy, and it came during the group's first comeback. The five members took first place on SBS Life's "The Show," which aired on the 3rd, with "French Kissing," the title track from their second EP, "Sequence 02: Attraction."
The group is made up of Zhang Hao, Yu Seung-eon, Ricky, Kim Gyu-vin and Han Yu-jin. On the show, they received The Show Choice, the program's first-place award.
"We made our first comeback with our second mini album, and we're so happy to receive The Show Choice," the group said. "We sincerely thank everyone who works hard for AND2BLE. Above all, we were able to take No. 1 thanks to Anclo." Anclo is the name of the group's fandom. "We'll work even harder so we can repay you with good performances."
That day, the group performed both "French Kissing" and the B-side "Potion." "French Kissing" captures the feeling of the moment two people are drawn to each other. Its signature move has the members use both hands to form the shape of two overlapping pairs of lips. The rest of the routine leans on facial expressions and gestures.
"Potion" turns the feeling of liking someone at first sight into dance. The members kept their movements controlled against a rhythmic track, giving the stage a different mood from the title song.
After the win was announced, AND2BLE performed an encore. The members sang live without relying on prerecorded vocals, covering a wide vocal range from low notes to high ones.
"Sequence 02: Attraction" picks up where the group's previous album, "Sequence 01: Curiosity," left off. The new EP follows how the "curiosity" explored on the first album grows into "interest" and then "attraction."
The album has also done well in sales. It topped 800,000 copies in first-week sales, a key benchmark for K-pop albums. That makes two albums in a row with sales of more than 500,000 copies for AND2BLE. The EP reached No. 1 on both the daily and weekly album charts of Hanteo Chart, a South Korean album sales tracker. It also took the top spot on Circle Chart's daily retail album chart.
The group's reach extends beyond Korea, too. "Sequence 02: Attraction" entered the Top 10 of iTunes' Top Albums chart in 15 regions around the world. The music video for "French Kissing" has passed 33 million views.
For a group on just its second release, the numbers point to a fan base that showed up early and keeps growing. The first trophy is a milestone, but the sales suggest it may not be the last.
