Known primarily as a member of 2PM, one of the defining boy groups of the second-generation K-pop era, Jang Wooyoung — who performs as Wooyoung — has built a presence that extends beyond the group through solo work and a reputation as one of its most versatile performers on stage.
Debut and role in 2PM
2PM debuted in 2008 under JYP Entertainment, and Wooyoung has remained a member of the group since its formation. Within the lineup, he serves as main dancer and lead vocalist — a combination that places him at the center of the group's performance identity. 2PM built much of their early reputation on a physically demanding, masculine stage presence that set them apart from contemporaries, and Wooyoung's background as a dancer was central to that image.
Solo work
Wooyoung released his debut solo extended play, 23, Male, Single, in 2012, stepping outside the group context while still active with 2PM. The project offered a more intimate look at him as an individual artist. His representative solo work to date is the 2015 single R.O.S.E, which stands as the most-cited entry point into his solo discography.
Standing
The material available does not support extended claims about chart performance or awards, and this profile will not manufacture them. What the record does reflect is a career sustained across both group and solo formats over more than fifteen years — a span that, for any act in the competitive K-pop landscape, carries its own significance.
