BTS’ ‘2.0’ Becomes Latest 100M-View Music Video
BTS' B-side music video for "2.0" surpassed 100 million views on YouTube at approximately on May 26th, marking it their 55th music video to do so.
Inspired by Director Park Chan-wook's film Oldboy, the music video attracted attention for its stylish direction. Scenes featuring BTS in suits confronting rough figures inside an old hallway and elevator created a cinematic atmosphere throughout the abandoned-building setting.
The performance-focused video also emphasized the concept of "BTS 2.0," with the members showcasing synchronized choreography while blending lighthearted acting and symbolic storytelling tied to the song’s message.
The track "2.0" combines hip-hop and trap elements with unconventional rhythms to express BTS’ current state after entering a new phase in their career while still giving a nod towards their hip-hop beginnings and roots. Lyrics such as "You know how we do" convey a more relaxed and confident attitude, while producer Mike WiLL Made-It participated in the track's production.
It previously entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 50 on the chart dated April 4th and remained on the chart for four consecutive weeks. Despite being a B-side track, "2.0" continued to demonstrate BTS’ strong global streaming and digital performance across various streaming platforms as the song has also charted on the global Spotify charts.
Meanwhile, BTS' fifth studio album "ARIRANG" and title track "SWIM" simultaneously topped the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 charts following their release in March. All-together a total of 13 tracks from the album also entered the Hot 100 simultaneously, further highlighting the group’s influence in the global music market.
