Director Yeon Sang-ho's infection thriller "Colony" has held the top spot at the Korean box office for 15 straight days. The film has now passed 4.12 million admissions. Newcomer "Wild Thing," directed by Son Jae-gon, is also tracking strong, drawing more than 220,000 viewers in its first two days.

According to the Korean Film Council's official ticketing system, "Colony" added 79,930 admissions on Tuesday for a running total of 4,123,671. That kept it at No. 1 for a 15th consecutive day.

The film has been resetting records all month. It crossed one million admissions on its fourth day, two million on day five, three million on day 10, and four million on day 14. Each of those milestones is the fastest of any title released in Korea this year.

"Colony" is set inside a building sealed off after a mysterious infection outbreak, where a group of stranded survivors face infected attackers that keep evolving in unpredictable ways. The cast includes Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Ji Chang-wook, Kim Shin-rok and Shin Hyun-been. The film marks Jun Ji-hyun's return to the big screen after 11 years.

"Wild Thing" held the No. 2 spot for a second day. It added 40,462 admissions on Tuesday, bringing its running total to 222,535.

The film is a comedy about Triangle, a three-member co-ed dance group that once ruled the Korean pop scene before an unexpected scandal broke them up overnight. Twenty years later, the trio takes a wild shot at a comeback. Kang Dong-won, Park Ji-hyun, Um Tae-goo and Oh Jung-se lead the cast.

In third place was "Backrooms," directed by Kane Parsons. The film added 27,072 admissions on Tuesday for a running total of 599,828.

Backrooms follows Clark and Mary as they face strange, unexplained events inside a bizarre space lined with yellow walls and endless fluorescent lights.

As of around 8 a.m. KST on Wednesday, real-time advance bookings put "Colony" in first with 32.3 percent. "Wild Thing" was second at 19.6 percent, followed by Backrooms at 8.7 percent.
