Jang Keun-suk Turns His Home Into a Sushi Restaurant on 'Friends in Gugi-dong'

Actor Jang Keun-suk turned his Seoul home into a full-service sushi bar for his friends, then followed it up with a sports car day and a first try at childcare. Episode 9 of tvN's "Friends in Gugi-dong" aired on Friday and leaned fully into Jang's habit of going big on small ideas.

For the sushi setup, Jang installed an actual conveyor belt inside his Gugi-dong home. "Get ready. I spent some real money on this one," he told his friends before walking them into a space he had remade into a sushi bar. The room came with a rice cooker built for sushi, a toy train to carry the plates, and a koi fish poster on the wall.

Jang then entered in a chef's uniform, greeted the group in Japanese, and started slicing sashimi and assembling sushi on the spot. When his friends kept telling him the food was good, he said, "Out of everything we've done in Gugi-dong, today feels the best. Seeing people enjoy something I made puts me in a good mood."

The episode also delivered on a bucket-list item for actor Kyung Soo-jin. Jang reserved 13 sports cars in advance so Kyung, along with actor Ahn Jae-hyun, could finally try a longtime wish. The three took the cars out together.

After the drive, Jang took on childcare, another item from his own bucket list mentioned in a pre-show interview. He spent time with Gyu-jin, the 15-month-old child of a working mother on the production team. Jang looked thrown at first but warmed up quickly, holding the baby and saying, "He feels like a balloon. So soft." He smiled while Gyu-jin held onto his hand and even gave the child cold medicine himself. A preview for the next episode showed Jang inviting his closest friend over for a 40th birthday party.

Jang is also currently appearing on ENA's "Director's Arena," which airs Friday nights at 11 p.m. KST. His band CHIMIRO kicked off its tour with "2026 THE CHIMIRO IN SEOUL" on April 11 and has since wrapped shows in Osaka and Tokyo. The band returns to Tokyo for another show on July 25.
