'Teach You a Lesson' Star Park Ji-yeon Wears a Mask in Public After Villain Role
Actor Park Ji-yeon says she has been wearing a mask in public since her villain role aired on the Netflix series Teach You a Lesson. The reaction from viewers was strong enough that a friend warned her it might not be safe to be recognized on the street.
On Nov. 16, the official YouTube channel Netflix Korea posted a video featuring the actors who played villains in "Hot Spot." In the clip, they read viewer comments and shared behind-the-scenes stories from the shoot.
Park appeared in episode 5 of "Hot Spot" as Woo-jin's mother, a pushy parent who files complaints at every turn. The role left a sharp impression and drew anger from viewers. "A friend told me, 'Just in case it's dangerous, make sure you wear a mask when you go out,'" Park said. She added that she has actually been wearing one diligently, which got a laugh from the room.
As she started reading comments, Park responded to one viewer who wrote that their blood pressure spiked the whole time they were watching. "Thank you," she said. Another comment read, "I can't even imagine how hard it was for Woo-jin's mother working in the psychiatric ward." Park admitted she laughed a lot at that one. She played nurse Hong Jung-ran in the 2023 Netflix series "Daily Dose of Sunshine." "I think a lot of people who saw that show left comments like this," she said.
Park also recorded a video message to her character, Woo-jin's mother. "Let's not live like that," she said firmly. "Every child is someone's child, so I hope we all live treating them as precious."
