From Backlash to No.1: 'Teach You a Lesson' Rules Netflix
Netflix’s Korean original series Teach You a Lesson is holding strong at No. 1 on the platform’s global non-English TV chart for its second consecutive week, expanding its viewership to an even broader international audience than in its debut week.
The procedural drama, which follows a specialized school protection unit that intervenes on behalf of victims to root out classroom violence, garnered 21.1 million views in its second week—a metric calculated by dividing total viewing time by the series' full runtime. The hit show also logged 225.8 million hours viewed, capturing the top spot in 46 countries, including South Korea, Japan, and Singapore. Furthermore, it cracked the global Top 10 in 91 countries total, making major waves in markets like the United States, the United Kingdom, India, France, Germany, Australia, Mexico, and Brazil.
Coinciding with the milestone, Netflix released a fresh batch of promotional stills highlighting the central four members of the protection unit and the heavy backstories driving their mission. The images capture Na Hwa-jin (Kim Mu-yeol), Lim Han-rim (Jin Ki-joo), and Bong Geun-dae (Pyo Ji-hoon) stepping onto the frontlines to defend endangered students and confront violent perpetrators, while Choi Kang-seok (Lee Sung-min) is depicted as the quiet anchor steering the team behind the scenes. Notably, one flashback still features a school-aged Lim Han-rim alongside a younger Na Hwa-jin during his military service, teasing a deep, long-standing history between the two core characters.
The newly released stills also showcase the supporting and guest cast members who anchored some of the season's most emotionally charged arcs. Lee Bong-jun is highlighted as Jo Gyu-cheol, the duplicitous villain orchestrating much of the school's turmoil—a role that has already triggered intense viewer backlash online.
Ha Young appears as Choi Ga-yoon, a dedicated teacher who is both Na Hwa-jin’s late fiancée and Choi Kang-seok’s daughter, whose tragic backstory serves as the catalyst for the unit's formation. Additionally, Lee Sang-hee plays Jeong Seon-yeong, a teacher emotionally hollowed out by the collapse of classroom order, and Seo Young-hee stars as Hyun-min’s overbearing mother, whose relentless pressure on her son drives much of the narrative tension. Together, these guest performances have been praised for adding profound layers of grief, warmth, and systemic outrage across the season.
The series previously faced significant pre-release skepticism over concerns that its narrative could be interpreted as endorsing corporal punishment and vigilante justice within educational systems.
Teach You a Lesson is currently available for streaming worldwide on Netflix.
