Netflix has unveiled the first official teaser poster and trailer for its highly anticipated mystery-fantasy historical drama The East Palace, starring Nam Joo-hyuk, Roh Yoon-seo, and Cho Seung-woo. The upcoming series follows a perilous quest to uncover the dark secret behind a sinister curse haunting the crown prince's palace, blurring the lines between the mortal realm and the spirit world.

The East Palace centers on Gu-cheon (Nam Joo-hyuk), a mysterious man who possesses the rare ability to cross into the spirit realm, and Saeng-gang (Roh Yoon-seo), a palace maid harboring a profound secret of her own. Summoned by the King (Cho Seung-woo), the unlikely duo sets out to unearth the terrifying truth behind the supernatural curse that has paralyzed the East Palace.

The newly released teaser poster masterfully sets an eerie tone where two overlapping worlds bleed into each other. Gu-cheon is depicted standing inside a pitch-black palace courtyard, sword in hand, framed by a blood-red sky, a shattered stone lantern, and tangled, dying vines that hint at a deep-seated malevolence. A striking tagline runs across the image, reading: "Crossing the line between the world of the living and the world of spirits to uncover the secret."

The accompanying teaser trailer introduces Gu-cheon as a formidable supernatural ghost hunter who relentlessly tracks down restless, vengeful spirits. The central mystery begins with a chilling question: why would a powerful monarch who completely rejects ghosts and superstition summon a man of this caliber into the royal palace? Sensing a deep-rooted, centuries-old grudge buried beneath the palace grounds, Gu-cheon decides to submerge himself into the spirit world to confront the wrathful entity at its source.

In a visually stunning sequence, he walks straight into a palace pond, emerging on the other side into a mirror dimension soaked in a crimson glow. As he swings his sword against the malevolent spirits closing in on him, he delivers a piercing warning: "Those who commit sins will be punished in the end."

Back in the mortal realm, Saeng-gang maintains a stoic, resolute expression while smearing blood across her forehead in what appears to be a protective ritual. Meanwhile, the King and the Queen Dowager (Jang Young-nam) find themselves face-to-face with horrifying, unexplainable phenomena. The trailer heavily leans into the dark folklore surrounding the cursed grounds, concluding with a chilling narration: "Once you enter, you only leave in death."

The teaser marks the first real look at the lead actors in character, generating significant industry buzz. Nam Joo-hyuk drives the fast-paced action and central mystery as Gu-cheon, anchoring the high-stakes narrative across both realms. Roh Yoon-seo showcases a dramatic transformation as the enigmatic palace maid, while veteran actor Cho Seung-woo provides a powerful, commanding presence as the embattled King.

The East Palace is scheduled to premiere worldwide on July 17, exclusively on Netflix.
