Trot Star Song Ga-in Becomes a Plant Parent for Upcoming Single Release
Top-tier South Korean trot singer Song Ga-in has taken up a unique personal hobby that ties directly into the profound theme of her highly anticipated next musical release: she is growing her own plants.
On Thursday, Song shared a series of heartwarming photos on her official social media accounts with the moving caption, "Plantain that grows trusting the ground." The published images showcase the powerhouse vocalist gently tending to small plantain pots, capturing everything from fresh green sprouts pushing through the rich soil to full, leafy growth.
Song's upcoming single, "Doesn't It Matter If It's Not a Flower" (Kkoch-i Animyeon Eotteonga), is scheduled to arrive on July 2 and carries the meaningful subtitle "Plantain" (Jilgyeongi). According to her management agency, the singer intentionally began planting and raising the seeds herself while deeply preparing for the track. Plantain—a famously resilient, hardy weed that somehow survives and grows even stronger the more it is stepped on—serves as the central, driving image of the entire song. By carefully tending to the plants during the intense production process, Song wanted to fully live out and embody the core message of the music.
The single is structurally built to comfort everyday people carrying the heavy, invisible burdens of daily life. Mirroring the nature of the plantain, the song speaks directly to those who firmly take root in harsh, unforgiving ground and manage to beautifully bloom again after being repeatedly trampled. Musically, the track marks an exciting departure for the artist, blending vibrant Brazilian festival house and energetic samba rhythms with deep, traditional trot sensibilities to create a refreshing hybrid dance track.
"Song Ga-in deeply wanted to share the uplifting message and raw sincerity of this single visually as well, which is why she started raising the plantain herself," her agency stated. The company further revealed that she plans to continuously share the final growth progress of the plants with her global fandom long after the song's official release.
By beautifully connecting the artist's personal daily preparation to the literal meaning of her music, the unique project effectively turns a standard comeback campaign into a deeply personal, interactive rollout.
